Jan 5 – Faith

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed,
you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’
and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”        –Matthew 17:20 (ESV)

How many times have you said, “I can’t do that” or “I’m not qualified” or “I’m scared”?

And of those times, how many of those were works you were called by God to do, but didn’t because of ‘I can’t’ or ‘I’m not’?

And whatever you ask in prayer,
you will receive, if you have faith.”       –Mathew 21:22 (ESV)

We go to God with our list of wants and just like a little child,  when we don’t get our way we pout or do less or find fault with God.  We forget that God has three answers He can give, yes, no or not now.

God trusts us to believe in Him and have faith in the knowledge that He knows the thing that needs to be done, when, and by whom.  He answers every prayer and every unspoken need.  He knows that as we act in faith our faith will grow and as our faith grows so will our act(ion)s.

But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.”
Show me your faith apart from your works,
and I will show you my faith by my works.             –James 2:18 (ESV)

God knows we can do everything we are called to do.  When we’re ‘not qualified’, He provides the tools or knowledge or skills or companion, like He did for Moses and Gideon and Paul. Just like He will do for you and me.

Father, There are many times my faith is smaller than a mustard seed and not where I see it.  Forgive me for these times and help me remember that if I am called by you, then I am capable, qualified and ready to answer your call.  Thank you for answering all of my prayers, even if it’s not with the answer I was looking for.

After a time of rest, it's time to resurrect this blog with a light on prayer and building our own personal prayer garden. A woman of faith, I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel in the hopes that these touch another heart, encouraging them to come to Christ.
