Jan 8 – The Mountain of the Lord

So Abraham called the name of that place,
“The LORD will provide”;as it is said to this day,
“On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”   –Genesis 22:14 (ESV)

Who are we to question the plans the Lord has for us?  Put yourself in Abraham’s place.  He’s told he’ll father a child, long past the time he should have been able to.   Sarah carries and delivers a healthy child, long past the time she should have been.   Abraham keeps presenting his wife as his sister so others can know her, not knowing God did not want this to happen.  Abraham is told to sacrifice (kill) the long promised son; he obligingly prepares to do so, not knowing he wouldn’t have to. Isaac needs a wife, Abraham refuses to let him marry a local and sends his servant to fetch a girl; not knowing the love that would develop between Isaac and Rebekah.

Can any of us see ourselves as being able to recognize God’s voice so easily that we could, so unquestioningly obediently, do anything God asks us to as Abraham did?  Do we truly have the faith in our Lord to live by the verse above and know that our faith is the mountain of the Lord and so it will all be provided?

Prayer: Father I know I struggle with obedience.  I do what I do not want to know and know I should not do. My desire is to follow you and be a good disciple.  Let your Holy Spirit fill me and help me be obedient to You, let me be still and not just hear You but listen.

After a time of rest, it's time to resurrect this blog with a light on prayer and building our own personal prayer garden. A woman of faith, I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel in the hopes that these touch another heart, encouraging them to come to Christ.
