Jan 11 – Wrestling with God

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.  –Philippians 4:13

Jacob physically wrestled with God one night.  As a result he received an injured hip for the rest of his life, a new name (Israel), and saw the face of God.

What is it you are wrestling with God about right now?  Unlike Jacob, we won’t win.   Do you have a broken relationship you’re not addressing?   Are you in a job that does not allow you to serve God by exampling or discipling His love?   Are you working in or with something you have no passion for?   Are you in denial about a condition in your life, such as drinking or drug taking, pornography or adultery, depression?

When is the last time you physically got down on your knees, acknowledging the sovereignty of God, admitting your sins and asking him for help?  That’s all we have to do, ask.  Just ask Him for help, give Him the issue and then allow Him to answer in His own time and in His own way.  Something that requires a lot of faith.

What if the answer is no?  Maybe you missed the point with what the problem is.  What if the answer is not now?  You must be patient and trust that you will see the answer when it comes.   What if the answer is yes?  You need to be prepared for the results, it may not be exactly what you expect.  Every action has a reaction (consequence) and that includes answered prayer.

Almighty Lord, may we have the sight to see God’s love, the courage to show it, and the discipline to grow in it.

After a time of rest, it's time to resurrect this blog with a light on prayer and building our own personal prayer garden. A woman of faith, I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel in the hopes that these touch another heart, encouraging them to come to Christ.
