Jan 15 – Value

Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.  —Psalm 66:4-6 (ESV)

In reading Genesis 44-46, we see how God takes action to fulfill His long standing promise of making nations.

“I am God, the God of your father,” he said.
“Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt,
for I will make you into a great nation there.”.           –Genesis 46:3 (NIV)

We also see Jacob forgiving the past actions of his family,

And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves
because you sold me here,
for God sent me before you to preserve life.    –Genesis 45:5

Why is it God gives promises and then reminds us of them so often?   I think it’s because has people we:

  • Don’t believe they are worthy.
  • When the result isn’t immediate, we forget the promise.
  • We are blind to the big picture, so unless we’re reminded, we don’t see how the small pieces lead us to the final promise.

Maybe it’s simply because God doesn’t make junk.

Maybe it’s simply because He loves mankind.

Maybe it’s simply because He loves you.

Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.     –Luke 12:7

Lord, help us remember you don’t make junk and You don’t make false promises.  If we don’t see that, it’s because we’re not looking.  Forgive us and help us to see.

After a time of rest, it's time to resurrect this blog with a light on prayer and building our own personal prayer garden. A woman of faith, I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel in the hopes that these touch another heart, encouraging them to come to Christ.
