Feb 11 – An Olive Tree

But I am like an olive tree,
flourishing in the house of God.        ~~Psalm 52-8 (NIV)

What powerful images God gives us in His words.  Olive trees grow to be very sturdy and produce abundant amounts of olives.  These olives are used to produce olive oil, one thing that we use today that has been used for thousands of years.

Well tended, these trees grow deep roots and stand tall for many years, some over 100.  It’s leaves are a deep green and is a symbol for abundance, glory & peace, three things God desires for us to have.  Things that, if we know God, we do have because He abundantly gives us grace, peace & mercy through His glorious Son Jesus.

When I read Psalm 52 the other day, the powerful picture of an old, tall, strong olive tree came to mind.  One whose branches stretched far and bore much fruit.  It touched the other nearby trees, creating a canvas of safety.

I think we are to be like these old olive trees, bearing fruit, standing on deep roots, daily soaking in God’s Word and presence, as the tree does sunshine and water.

Heavenly Father, let me grow like an Olive trees flourishing in Your Home, pleasing you daily with the fruit I bear.

After a time of rest, it's time to resurrect this blog with a light on prayer and building our own personal prayer garden. A woman of faith, I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel in the hopes that these touch another heart, encouraging them to come to Christ.
